Your Hosts at The Anchorage Cottages

John is a Brit with a strong seafaring background.  After years in the British Merchant Navy, he came to Canada in a submarine, spent a half dozen years in Montreal with a private shipping group before destiny called him to Prince Edward Island.

Linda, a true Islander, grew up in various military bases across Canada and in Europe.  Yearning for roots, she returned to the Island where she and John would cross paths just a few years later.

Their common love of country living with wide open spaces and the sea and forest around them drew them together.  With lots of work and much vision, they have built a home that is truly a reflection of what they value most in life. In more recent years, they have developed a neighboring property and one of their own original ‘homestead’ properties into year-round rentals, catering especially to summer visitors.  Always seeing an opportunity, Linda has developed a weaving studio in the smaller cottage and off-season she loves to spend hours in this special place with shuttle in hand and colours dancing in her head! The lovingly tended gardens surrounding the cottages and main house and the attractive decor and soothing interior colours, are an expression of Linda’s creativity and quiet, reflective spirit.  John’s affinity for fine craftsmanship and responsible property management means that everywhere is ‘shipshape’.  When others might sell their home because it doesn’t fit anymore, Linda and John would decide what they needed to change to make it fit once more– a win-win situation for the local contractors, craftsmen and trades people!
